Bold
“You are the light of the world. A town built on a hill cannot be hidden. Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl. Instead they put it on its stand, and it gives light to everyone in the house. In the same way, let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven.“
Matthew 5:14-16 NIV
Today's post is short and simple. Are you the blue flowers or the red rose? Are you hiding in the background, or are you standing out in your faith? Are you boldly proclaiming your prayers to God? Are you walking out your faith boldly or are you tamping it down?
This is something I struggle with sometimes. I have found myself trying to "turn down" my faith around certain people and in certain situations because I don't want to "come on too strong." I'm scared it will make things awkward and the person/people will not want to speak to me bevause I'm one those "Christian freaks." I find myself standing back and making mediocre comments about things instead of boldly proclaiming what I know to be true. When it comes to social issues or controversial topics, I find myself bowing out or trying to appease everyone with a noncommittal response. Why? What am I afraid of? Judgement? Loss of "friendship?" Backlash? Mockery?
Jesus was mocked, judged, and lost friends and He continued to boldly proclaim God's word. Why are we holding back? In this day of social media, constant communication, and social interaction, why are we so scared to boldly proclaim the goodness of God and defend the biblical truths we know? In Matthew 5, Jesus said that we are the "light of the world" and "cannot be hidden." Why are we trying to blend in with the crowd when we are the light in the world? Today, I just want you to do some inner reflection and think about what is holding you back from being bold in your faith and in your prayers. Write down what you are scared of or intimidated by and then pray over those things. Give them to God and pray for boldness. Be brave my friends and stand up for the One who created us perfectly in His image and loves us unconditionally. Stand up for the biblical truths so many are trying to discredit. Stand up for the one true loving God who sent His son to die for me and for you so that we may have eternal life because you never know, your boldness could be what saves a person from eternal suffering. I love y'all and hope you have a great week!
