You Matter

“Keep a close watch on yourself and on the teaching. Persist in this, for by so doing you will save both yourself and your hearers.” 1 Timothy 4:16

This post is for the women who are tired and overextended. For the women who give and give and give and feel like it’s not enough or no one notices. I’m here to tell you they do. What you do matters. Teaching that Sunday school class, wrangling littles, reaching out to a friend in need, cleaning the church, helping prepare meals, and everything else you do inside and outside of church, IT MATTERS! The little things you do matters. Bowing your head to pray before a meal, showing kindness to a less than deserving person, choosing to find joy in the sadness, giving when you have nothing left to give matters. Your littles are watching you. Your friends are watching you. The younger generation of ladies and girls in the church are watching you. You are valuable. You are needed. You are a light in the darkness. The song “Thank You” by Ray Boltz was on my mind and led me to write this post. Here are a few of the lyrics that I want you to think about:

Thank you for giving to the Lord

I am a life that was changed

Thank you for giving to the Lord

I am so glad you gave

One by one they came

Far as the eyes could see

Each life somehow touched

By your generosity

Little things that you had done

Sacrifices made

Unnoticed on the earth

In Heaven now proclaimed

I know you’re tired and probably feeling burnt out from the holidays and just life in general but I implore you to keep going friend. Rest when needed, but keep being a light in those around your’s lives. Your prayer after Sunday school, that kind text or word of encouragement, your servitude, your hug, your friendly smile could be what someone needs at that exact moment to lead them to the Lord or to guide them back to Him. Your life and the way you live it is a ministry. Paul is an excellent example of a life of ministry. He lived what he preached and stood firm in his faith. I want my daily life to be a ministry to those around me in 2024. Not just on Sunday morning or Wednesday night, but everyday. I pray people see Jesus in me daily and it helps them grow in their relationship in the Lord. I encourage you to keep going friend. I want you to know your life is valuable and a ministry to those around you. You are a light and you are making a difference. I think sometimes we get caught up in the monotony of day-to-day and forget how valuable to God we are when we’re driving down the road praising Jesus in front of our kiddos in the car, helping the old lady with her groceries, giving a kind smile to the grumbling stranger, and just living our lives humbly.

My prayer for you in 2024 is to recognize your worth in Jesus and to live out your life in humble servitude even in the monotony of the day-to-day. I pray 2024 is your year to flourish in your faith, grow in your calling, and for you to experience the true joy that comes in living a life of service you the Lord. I pray that not only do others see Jesus in you, but that you see Jesus in your every breath and every moment. I pray your life is filled with joy and happiness, but I also pray that when darkness comes (because it will) you see Jesus in those times too. I pray 2024 is the year you hit your challenges head on and succeed in overcoming them due to your tenacity and faith in Jesus. I pray that whatever happens in 2024 whether good or bad, you find victory in Jesus, your light never dims and you faith never waivers. I love you my friends, and pray we continue on this journey together in 2024.
